Before You Begin. Game Dev Tycoon is not your typical tycoon game where you can just tap like mad and turn in profits. Before you start developing a game, you need to think about the topic, genre, and audience. You need to find the right combination of these three aspects if you want your game to succeed.

We’re 85th out of 353 games tagged “Management” in Steam.And 41st out of 157 games labled “Economy”So I wouldn’t say the game is “Horrible”. The game has a higher rank than many games on this list.
It might not be your cup of tea however. Major fans of simple tycoon style games will probably hate GC. If you don’t like learning curbs, self learning, 2000’s quality graphics, can’t stand complex/poorly designed UI systems, hate reading, or hate lots of numbers everywhere, etc you’ll hate GC.On the flip side, in my biased opinion, there are not many games with as much economic depth as GearCity. Hence I wouldn’t call the game horrible if I didn’t like it, but niche.

You're welcome to your own.:)(If you bought the game on Steam, haven’t played in a really long time (1-2 years), and you are using the same computer, you may need to manually clear the game cache before trying to play again. This is because Steam will not remove old/outdated settings files on uninstall.

The goal is quite simple, stay in business. Outside of that you do what you want. Some folks choose to run racing companies, some just design engines and sell them. Others make generic companies and pull in a lot of money. A few are like me and like to play as a manufacturer of luxury or sports cars (and then go out of business in the Great Depression). Hell, I've seen people play as holding companies in the game.Future tutorials will hold the player's hand a bit more and walk them through other parts of the game. Might be where the lack of 'clear goal' comes from.:).
