I've played a lot of these over the years - ten years ago when I was in high school they were much easier to pirate and therefore access. They inspired me to follow music as a kid, unfortunately the real world isn't as easy.Rock tour, Chart Wars 2-3, and Rockstar (Dos) are on the same level in terms of what you can do with your artists/content. Do not waste your time with chart wars 1-2.
Also unfortunately chart wars 4 (although it sounded amazing) will never be released. Rock Tour is fun outside of the story missions, although is incredibly repetitive and has no real strategy. Rockstar is a small game from 1988 but you can make millions, tour the western world, sign to labels, do heroin with your grandmother, and ultimately die a quick death where no one misses you. I still play it from time to time.Chart wars 3 has an editor feature which allows you to add your own groups in, which is probably it's biggest stand out.
It's impossible to win without going into debt also, and it doesn't focus as much on extra things to buy. It also takes forever to start up and eventually forever for the game to load.The best ones are long, grinding games that can unfold a bunch of different ways, such as:Shady o Grady's, which unfortunately seems dead, was fun because you could buy houses and it was a challenge to keep the money that you made, it was a long grinding game. The driving around was annoying, but it was fun being able to plot your own tour across America at any point and buy million dollar mansions. Graphics aside. It's been a long time since i've played it since unfortunately I can't get it to work for mac os x despite wine, but I would recommend it.Kudos Rockstar is cool, with the worst part of it being the practice feature which becomes impossible to keep up with towards your 4th album. It's difficult enough to be engrossing, but not easy enough to be repetitive unless you play it a lot.

You ran a hollywood studio from the early 90s and could buy houses/have a stock photo girlfriend.There was this one game, I cannot remember the name as I was only able to get it in 2006 - it incorporated drugs along with many features of Shady O Grady's. It was point and click, and had a very gritty street factor. I haven't been able to find it for a decade, can someone help me?If anyone has any I missed, please inform me!. It was great - such a buggy mess but the only thing that really captured that gritty grunge feel of being a 90s rockstar, which is why I loved it.
Most of the other games in the genre are way too happy and bright. Trying for a career in music doesn't always work out like that, but this one is believable, scraping together enough money from a shitty gig to maybe feed yourself.Great work on finding that link. Mario kart arcade gp dx music. The game runs smooth for me on this spec except for the occasional hicup.The odd thing for me is that the game looks much smoother especially the 2d stuff like character photos when you are selecting a character and the static images that show when the track is loading on my newer PC.
